You started like
all the rest

We traveled to
village after village,
looking for the same thing;
A thing called "Opportunity"
We did lots.
We plucked strings,
Washed dishes,
Got beat up.
We did all those things.
And then it came.
Like a torrent of chaos
and blood bath.
and blood bath.
Broke us.
Ruined us.
The north wall crumbled.
It Burned and burned
and continued to burn day after day.
Then it froze when the ice came.
After a few years,
we were part of it.
We fought against the
ice, within the ice.
my eyes would see them as men of straw-
like the ones that used to hang on the wooden pillars.
I was cold and hurt and hungry
and tired and afraid.
You were too.
